The Madison County Rescue Squad is always looking for volunteers to be a part of our team. Below is an application you can fill out and return by email or by dropping it off at our building located at 1473 North Main Street in Madison, VA between the hours of 6 P.M and 11 P.M. You can also mail it to P.O. Box 868 Madison, VA 22727. The Madison County Rescue Squad is always looking for anyone certified in the following: Emergency Vehicles Operator Course (EVOC) Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) Emergency Medical Technician-Enhanced (EMT-E) Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I) Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) All certifications must be up to date and you must be licensed in the state of Virginia or have the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
But being in the back of an ambulance is not the only way you can be a part of the squad! If that part doesn't interest you, try joining as a general support member. These members help organize, run, and clean up squad functions. They are vital members or the MCRS team. Feel free to inquire about any of the above memberships by emailing Alvin Esh at

But that's not all- The Madison County Rescue Squad Auxiliary also is a group of men and women who help raise funds for the Squad. They have their own trailer and truck that is used to sell food and refreshments at special events around the county. To inquire about the Auxiliary, email Diann Kelliher at

Not trained? Not a problem. Classes are held around the TJEMS region where you can be trained as an EMT-B or as an EVOC Driver. Both are vital parts of the EMS field. Both require that you have a certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) prior to joining the squad. The squad may even be able to pay for some of your training! For an application and ANY questions you may have, please email the address
