MVA Rollover

October 22, 2011

It was a busy night and morning for Crew 5 on October 22, 2011. At approximately 2:30 a.m., Crew 5 was toned out for a single motor vehicle accident on North Seminole Trail. 2 patients were treated and transported to the hospital on this call. That car ended up hitting some small cedar trees along the road. You can see that in another photo gallery.

Crew 5 came back on duty after a 12 hour break and in the space of 20 minutes was working 3 incidents starting at approx. 2300 hours. One of the incidents was a single MVA rollover on O'Neals Road. Medic 384 responded with a crew of 3. This MVA was toned at 2315 hours. The person in this vehicle refused service and walked away! This was a Jeep. The Jeep ended up approx. 50 feet into the woods. This is after it was dragged out of the woods to begin the process of removing the Jeep from the woods and load onto a wrecker. The photos taken in the daylight were taken on the morning after on October 23, 2011.

A bit dark, however this shows the path of the Jeep intot he words. Look at left and you can see a flashlight beam in the woods. This is from a VSP trooper back in the woods checking just how far this vehicle went

Up the rollback it goes. That single headlamp was the only thing running on this Jeep and stayed burning the entire time

The car was heading in this direction and lost it on the curve. As you look down the road several hundred yards you can see a sliver of light and what looks like a road to the left, that is the appox site of MVA

Look at the path and damage...Look up ahead and you can make out a house...The ground was wet and soft, had it been hardeer, the vehicle could have had the potential to break thru the woods and into the front of this house

The vehicle ended up straight ahead, on its roof right at the edge of the tree line - yard/lawn dividing line you can make out. The Jeep ended up going approx 50 or more feet after leaving the road and overturning
